Steve Ashton Scholarship for the Architectural Profession (SASAP) 2026

The Steve Ashton Scholarship for the Architectural Profession (SASAP) honours Steve Ashton, co-founder of Ashton Raggatt McDougall (ARM Architecture) and Swinburne alum.

Established through the Ashton-Nixon bequest, it supports career architects seeking to advance their professional development through business and management studies.

Eligible students include those undertaking vocational education or postgraduate qualifications in aligned business or management fields at Swinburne.

Applicants must:

• be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or Australian permanent resident with humanitarian visa
• have completed an accredited course in Architecture.

Applicants must: 

• be a Swinburne student in 2026
• enrolled full-time or part-time in a Vocational Education and Postgraduate course offered by Swinburne for one of the following areas:
  
  Diploma of Business
  Diploma of Leadership and Management
  Graduate Certificate or Masters by coursework in one of the following:
  
  Professional Accounting
  Business Administration
  Business Information Systems
  Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Graduate Certificate)
  Finance
  Financial Technologies
  Human Resource Management
  Marketing
  Social Impact (Graduate Certificate)
  Supply Chain Innovation

• enrolled on-campus or online.

Applications will be assessed based on: 

• completion of an accredited course in Architecture
• Membership of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) would be well regarded, but is not essential.

This scholarship is related to the following study areas:

Personal Statement

Submit a written statement or short video (no more than 2 minutes) addressing:

• professional achievements to date
• any contribution to the architectural community
• examples of leadership
• how you would utilise this scholarship to help create a better world

Upload your video to cloud based storage (google drive/one drive/drop box) and provide the link in a MS Word or PDF document. Ensure the video is downloadable by anyone and not access restricted.

Academic transcript

Provide a copy of your testamur or academic transcript for your completed accredited course in Architecture.

Curriculum vitae (CV)

Provide a copy of your curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages).
