Giles Family Foundation Study Abroad Program 2026 (Travel in Semester 2)

The Giles Family Foundation Study Abroad Program, established by Swinburne alum Michael H. Giles, supports five students eager to broaden their horizons through international study to any Swinburne partner university. Inspired by his own transformative experience abroad, Michael established this program to help others access life-changing opportunities.

Applicants must: 

• bee approved for an Overseas Semester Exchange in Semester 2, 2026 to any Swinburne partner university.

Applicants must be: 

• a continuing second year or above Swinburne student in Semester 2, 2026
• studying any Swinburne undergraduate (including Honours) or postgraduate degree
• enrolled full-time.

This scholarship is related to the following study areas:

Personal statement (Video)

Submit a video* of up to 3 minutes addressing:

• your motivation to study overseas
• demonstrated commitment to community service
• leadership potential.

*Please upload your video to an accessible media source and provide the link in a Word or PDF document. Ensure the video is downloadable and accessible to anyone with the link.

Offer letters

• provide an offer letter from Swinburne Abroad for the Semester Exchange program
• provide your offer letter from your host institution (if available). This can be supplied after the closing date.

Written references

Provide a written reference from a teacher, community leader, or employer.. Note: referees cannot be a family member or friend.
