Why science student Brodie thinks every aspiring scientist should experience a placement
Brodie chose the Bachelor of Science (Professional) at Swinburne for its 12-month paid placement opportunity. She hoped a placement would arm her with the advanced skills, confidence and connections needed to build the science career she dreamed of.
Brodie went from conducting independent research from her very first year to being the youngest person in CSIRO’s Protein Mass Spectrometry laboratory in year three. The placement expanded her horizons and gave her experience in a variety of lab settings.
With encouragement from her Swinburne teachers and a year-long CSIRO placement under her belt, Brodie is feeling capable, confident and ready for her science career.
